I have something to say too!

is communication all that important? Isn't sometimes its just better to just shut up and not say a thing? Sometimes silence helps solve a lot of issues. But imagine this, every time that you try to speak up, make a point you are pushed down!! You aren't allowed to come up with your side of the story? What do you do then? If you do say something it'll turn into something bigger and uglier than it already is. Then what? Isn't it frustrating?

lets start with the problem. You have something in your mind which is troubling you and you know saying it might hurt the other person, or the person might not take it in the right spirit. What do you do? Do you not say it and just keep the anger inside, let it grow and manifest? That'd make you go crazy. But will not lead to any verbal or physical confrontations.
Or, do you say it? Just the way you feel it. Just as the words come into your mind and onto your tongue. Now justifications are fine. Its a little unclear to me how the talking process changes into the screaming one! Its generally a very quick change of moods in the room. And then I scream and then everybody else screams. Nobody is listening to anyone! Age old problems and all the petty issues from the past come into the picture! Blah...blah...blah...
Then you bang you respective doors and let a few tears slip. What happened here? There was the obvious initiation of communication. But it didn't solve anything. Why? Because everyone around here is so fixated on the idea that what I did was right and I can never be wrong. (I'm not ALWAYS an exception to that). But the worst part is they aren't ready to even consider the idea or let anyone try to show them how they can be right too.

Okay... this isn't going well... I can't write this properly without actual describing the whole incident(s). no right and wrong would come out of just hypothetical situations. :|

communication = listening + speaking

Many people who fail to understand this spoil the entire concept of communication..half the problems borne 'our of' communication are because only the latter part of it is happening, i.e speaking..and not listening..

if both happen, and if we are not fixated to the idea of 'winning' an argument, communication really does help, a lot.

i sorta agree with panvi wen she says that the problem arises when the 'listening' is not done....
just arguing for the sake of proving that 'you are wrong and i am right'
would never help...
but yeah swati i get what you mean when you say that it's better to keep shut at times.. trust me i am going through the same conflict and yeah getting it out in the open won't solve anything for now...
but being closed off all the time is not an option either.. it'll make you go crazy when you build all this frustration inside you with no outlet.. so even if you don't talk about any issue that is bugging you with the person concerned you should find some other way to let it out.. keeping it all inside is NEVER good.

I knew you would agree with her. (Lilliput land) Haha. Jokes apart, yeah, well listening is important. But just in the anticipation that maybe next time they'd listen i can't just keep getting into these fights. And what other option do i have?
